MID KERRY CHAMPIONSHIP: Our seniors travelled to Glenbeigh on Saturday for the Preliminary round of the Mid Kerry Championship. Tommy Buckley gave Keel the brighter start with two points before Gavan Grady got his side on the scoreboard. Buckley added another super long-range score just after which gave Keel some momentum however, some chances were missed. Glenbeigh/Glencar began to settle and Kieran Courtney’s effort on goal raised the green flag. Less than two minutes later, Dara Casey added a second Glenbeigh/Glencar goal which rattled the visitors. The home side kicked three more points from Kieran Courtney, Liam Roche and Gavan Grady to give them a 7-point lead. A lack of discipline in the Glenbeigh/Glencar defence allowed Tommy Buckley to kick three frees and Shane Evans added a point to leave Keel trailing by 3 at half time. Half time score, Keel 0-07, Glenbeigh/Glencar 2-04. Weather conditions worsened in the second half which certainly didn’t help the poor handling on both sides! Gavan Grady gave his side a 4-point lead, but this was cancelled out with a fine score from young Shane Evans. Grady added another which was cancelled out by Buckley. Keel needed a goal which wasn’t looking likely with the Glenbeigh/Glencar blanket defence in front of goals. Tommy Buckley added another free to leave two points between the sides in injury time. Keel’s efforts to get a goal were numerous in the final minutes but Glenbeigh/Glencar cleared their lines. Keel lost out by 2 in the end after a very determined battle. Final score, Keel 0-10, Glenbeigh/Glencar 2-06. Keel team: Stephen Cahillane, Eden Murphy, Seán Corcoran, Gavin Evans, Gary Murphy, Thomas Ladden, Daniel Ashe, Killian O Dowd, Shane Evans (0-02), Lachlan Griffin, Eoin O’ Neill, Garret Prendiville, Seán Foley, Tommy Buckley (0-08), Aaron Cahillane. Subs used: Keith Evans for Killian O Dowd, Darragh O Dowd for Eoin O’ Neill, James Foley for Lachlan Griffin (injury), James Nagle for Seán Foley, Cian Flynn for Daniel Ashe.

MID KERRY: Congratulations to Keith Evans who was named on the Terrace Talk team of the County Championship. Well deserved! Well done to his teammates Seán Coffey, Pa Kilkenny & Mike Breen who also made the team of the Championship.

UNDER 14: Our U14s reached the Munster Final of the Super 10’s Touch in Mallow on Saturday. They were narrowly beaten by Éire Óg of Ennis in the final. Final score Keel/Listry 1-06, Éire Óg 2-04. Well done to all the players and coaches!
